The Phillipsburg High School English Department is committed to developing reflective, critical, and creative thinkers through the language experiences of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Staff members will create an interpretive community in which students are engaged in transforming information and experience into knowledge and understanding. When our students are cultivated and engaged in challenging and supportive literacy instruction, they are self-motivated in their learning with advanced college and career-ready skills and enhanced cultural and literary perspectives. Our goal is to connect the students’ interests to relevant and meaningful learning experiences in the real world. Phillipsburg graduates will possess the necessary literacy skills and knowledge to empower their success in our diverse and interdependent world.
